Configuration Demonstration

Whiteboard

Exhibit power + airspeed required in different configurations.

Different aircraft configuration produce different airspeed and power combinations.

  1. Configuration: Attitude and power
  2. Region of reverse command
  3. Altitude loss
  4. Go-arounds
  5. Takeoffs
  1. Clean configuration
    1. Establish VA
    2. Slow to VG holding altitude, note power
    3. Slow to just above stalls, note power
    4. Acknowledge stall indications
    5. Accelerate to level flight
    6. Note airspeed and altitude loss
  2. Landing configuration
    1. Establish VA
    2. Extend flaps, slow to reference landing speed (65)
    3. Note power
    4. Slow to just above stall speed
    5. Verbalize stall indications, note power
    6. Accelerate to level flight
    7. Note airspeed and altitude loss
  • Airspeed limitations
  • Region of reverse command
  • Stalls and spins
  • Stall warning indications
  • Inappropriate back-pressure
  • Inadequate yaw controls
  • Fixation on airspeed or altimeter
  • Not anticipating lift changes with flaps
  • Recovery >1500 ft. AGL
  • Altitude ± 100 ft.
  • Airspeed +5/-0 knots
  • Heading ±10°
